The Director General and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NIIT), Dr. Bayero Salih Farah has stated that the Institute had virtual lectures and Seminars during the lockdown as the School wasn’t completely closed. He also said that the institute has started a new session after the lockdown and measures has been put in place to observe the Covid -19 protocols.

Dr Bayero also said that the Institute is making the Environment conducive for learning as the students resume, more laboratories are being created also more hostels are being built and beautification process of the environment is ongoing.

When asked on the functionality of the Zonal offices, the DG said that some of the offices are partially functional while others are fully operational, but plans are on ground to make sure all offices are fully operational by January 2021.

 The Zonal offices in Abuja, Kano, Gombe and Ebonyi State are partially functioning as funitures and Equpments are being delivered to the offices from now till December.

 Speaking further, Dr. Bayero said that offices in Port- Harcourt and Lagos are fully functioning, while two more offices are being developed in Ekiti and Kastina State which is already 70% completed.

He stated that the only constraints the agency has was lack of Staff to mount those offices.

Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NIIT) is an institute that provides training to Personnel employed in all modes of transport, leading to award of certificates. It serves as a transport intelligence centre for monitoring transport and logistics systems and provide equipment and facilities for the encouragement, promotions and conduct of applied research in all modes of transport.
