The Honourable Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has hinted that the Agbo Railway station has been named after former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The Minister disclosed this while speaking with Pressmen during the Maiden Test-Run of Coaches on the Itakpe-Warri Railway.
Giving the hint, Amaechi said, “This is Goodluck Jonathan Agbo Station which incorporates Railway facilities and Julius Berger, CCECC and TEAM have done a good job.”
Speaking on the economic value of the railway, Amaechi said “The railway is about Cargoes. The Rail MD has informed me of plans for the commencement of Pipeline Transportation from the Warri port. Any production from Ajaokuta will be transported through this rail track and the MD has also told me of discussions with Dangote and Bua cement.”
The minister further used the opportunity to appeal for the Development of a culture of maintaining Public infrastructure. “You’ll know if NRC has done a good job if they manage the facilities properly. The issue is maintenance. I think we should learn to maintain the infrastructure that we inherit,” the minister said
