Dakuku Peterside joins Leadership Newspaper

Dr Dakuku Peterside is set to join the Leadership newspaper as a columnist. Peterside who recently completed his tenure as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), is a former member of the House of Representatives. Dakuku was appointed as commissioner for Works, Rivers State in 2005, and Special Adviser to Governor of Rivers State on works in 2003. He also served as Chairman, Opobo–Nkoro Local Government Area in 2002.

As Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku led the biggest recorded regulatory reforms in the history of Maritime Regulation in Africa between the year 2016 and 2020. Under his management, Nigeria became the first country in West/Central Africa to have a distinct anti-piracy law. Under his watch as NIMASA boss, Nigeria established an Integrated National Surveillance and Waterways Protection Solution with Command and Control Infrastructure (Deep Blue Project). Dr. Peterside was elected Chairman Association of African Maritime Administrations (AAMA), where he delivered a record 205 presentations across 35 countries in a period of 4 years on oil and gas; maritime and security in the Gulf of Guinea.

At the Leadership Newspaper, Dr. Dakuku Peterside will be writing on leadership challenges, decisions, public policy and how they affect national development, every Monday in a column titled: “LEADERSHIP NOTES WITH DAP”. The column will weekly discuss leadership challenges and decisions, public policy and how they affect national development.
