Ministry of humanitarian affairs, USAID AND WORLD BANK to partner in Disability empowerment Programme

In a sustained effort to empower the disabled persons and vulnerable women in Nigeria, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development have announced that it is partnering with USAID and the World Bank in a project for disabled and the vulnerable.


The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, disclosed this in Washington DC, during the US-Nigeria Bi-national Commission meeting held on February 3-4, 2020, in Washington DC, the United States.


Hajiya Sadiya said that her Ministry will work with the World Bank to convene a conference on disability and women empowerment led by the Federal government, FMHADMSD, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and other relevant MDAS and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

In a statement signed by the Media SA to the Minister, Halima Oyelade, Sadiya said: “The disability and women empowerment programme will especially cater for the welfare of the disabled in the country and vulnerable women. The programme will be run in concert with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.”


The Minister also added that the empowerment programme would be delivered through the conditional cash transfers, which is targeted at the most vulnerable segment of the society.
