As the cold war between Zamfara State Governor , Bello Matawalle, and his predecessor , Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, continues, Yari is of the opinion that the his pension, as former Governor cannot be stopped. Recall that the Zamfara House of Assembly in November, 2019, abolished a law that allowed the payment of pension and other allowances to the state’s former governors and their deputies. The State Governor while sending the request to the House of Assembly had noted that past Governors and their deputies were collecting over N700m annually, an amount the State Government could not afford to pay.

In an Interview with Pressmen in Abuja, Yari said: “About the pension policy, government cannot change this policy for now but I promised I won’t say anything for now. “I don’t want to comment on what is happening in Zamfara State but a time will come when everything will be put on the table. For now, we will allow him so that he will not say we are distracting him from governance.”

On security challenges facing the Nation Yari said: “As a one-time Chief Security Officer of the state, I know what the issue of security entails. I know the predicament of the security and that of state when it comes to the issue of security. “So, I don’t know whether to continue to change security chiefs will be the solution or getting the right equipment for them or facilities to deal with situation.”
