The number of people reported killed by the new coronavirus in China, have risen to 116. The novel coronavirus, known as 2019-nCoV is believed to have emerged late last year from illegally traded wildlife at an animal market in Wuhan, China.
A small number of cases linked to people who travelled from Wuhan have been confirmed in more than 10 countries, including Australia, Thailand, France, Japan and the United States.
In a related development, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has urged Nigerians to be cautious of the novel coronavirus (nCoV). In a press release by NCDC, the agency urged members of the public to wash hands regularly with soap under running water, cover mouth and nose properly with handkerchief or tissue paper when sneezing and/or coughing, and avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
