The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the commencement of enforcement against tinted vehicle windows and obscured number plates.

The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Olatunji Disu, disclosed this yesterday while parading several suspects arrested for various crimes within the territory.

“There is a ban on it. It’s even a legal matter because there is a law on it. The police only suspended the enforcement of the law because we had suspended the issuance of the tint permit,” CP Disu explained.

Highlighting recent security operations, the Commissioner detailed the arrest of one Ibrahim Kabiru on November 23, 2024, at about 1:00 PM. Operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) intercepted Kabiru during a routine patrol along Ahmadu Bello Way.

“A search of his parked vehicle uncovered a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine, a knife, scissors, two mobile phones, and female luggage suspected to be stolen,” Disu said.

Kabiru’s failure to provide a satisfactory explanation for the items has raised suspicions of his involvement in the notorious ‘One Chance’ robbery schemes. The suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court after the investigation concludes.

The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring safety and compliance with laws across the FCT.
