Gov Abba Yusuf Presents ₦24bn Supplementary Budget To Kano Assembly
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, on Tuesday, submitted a ₦24 billion 2023 second supplementary budget to the House of Assembly for deliberation and subsequent approval.
Kabir-Yusuf’s request was read at plenary in Kano on Tuesday, by the Speaker, Alhaji Ismail Falgore.
Falgore said the governor is seeking the approval of the House, in accordance with Section 122 (A) & (B) of the 1999 Constitution.
He said, “In pursuant to Section 122 (A) & (B) of the 1999 Constitution, I have the honour and privilege to submit to the House the Kano State proposed 2023 second Supplementary Budget/Amendment bill for deliberations and subsequent approval.
“Honourable Speaker, 2023 second proposed Supplementary Budget/Amendments become necessary due to obvious reasons, amongst which are, expected receipts from FAAC in the form of statutory revenue, VAT, Ecological funds, E.M.T.L, Independent Power Projects loan from CBN as well as increased IGR.
“Consequent upon the above compelling needs, and a fervent desire to accelerate the execution of some emergency priority projects in the state, thus, 2023, the second Supplementary Budget Amendment is anchored on the following areas.
“Personnel cost/settlement of gratuity ₦4 billion and Capital expenditure supplementary ₦20 billion.”
He said that with the supplementary budget of ₦58 billion and ₦24 billion, the total budget size for 2023 now stands at ₦350 billion.
The House then unanimously agreed to commit the supplementary/amendment budget/ 2023 to legislative action.
Similarly, the 2024 appropriation bill also scales second reading at the House.
