‘We Have Senate Approval To Revamp Agriculture’, Says Sen Saliu Mustapha

Senator Saliu Mustapha, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Production Services, and Rural Development, announced that the committee has obtained Senate approval to reform the agricultural sector in the country. He emphasized the need for collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and other stakeholders to ensure food security in Nigeria.

During an interactive session with officials of the Ministry and other relevant agencies, Senator Mustapha highlighted the committee’s oversight role in identifying and addressing challenges that hinder food security. He expressed the importance of providing the necessary support to enhance agricultural productivity, emphasizing its significant role as the largest employer of labor in the nation.

Stressing the criticality of achieving food security, Senator Mustapha emphasized the pivotal role of agriculture in the national economy and the livelihoods of the majority population residing in rural areas. He underscored the nation’s reliance on the agricultural sector and the imperative of meeting the expectations of those involved in the sector.

Highlighting the lack of implementation of legislative measures aimed at achieving food security, Senator Mustapha expressed determination to change the narrative this time. The interactive meeting witnessed significant participation from ministry and allied agency officials.
