RSEYLC Group Pays Courtesy Visit To The Chairman, NDDC Board, Lauretta Onochie.

The Chairman of Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition, RSEYLC, Chief Comrade Yamaabana Legborsi, led his group on a courtesy visit to the Chairman Of the NDDC Governing Board, Lauretta Onochie at the headquarters of the Commission in Port Harcourt, on Friday the 14th of April 2023.

According to Legborsi, the group is an umbrella body of all indigenous youth leaders and youth groups in Rivers State centered on advocacy for good governance, accountability, social justice, structural human rights, communal cooperation and environmental protection.

The visit, which is aimed at building synergies and gathering momentum for partnership with NDDC in finding a lasting solution to the socio-economic problems of the region, also seeks to create a conducive atmosphere for the economic growth and development of the Niger Delta region.

Legborsi, while commending the NDDC Governing Board, appealed to the Chairman of the Board for equal representation of youths from all the nine Niger Delta states and avoid favouritism, as experienced in the past management.
Several other demands were made which include; employment, empowerment, medical care, payment of contract money owed and a mobilisation for the group.

In her response, the Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Lauretta Onochie, thanked the youth group for showcasing maturity in addressing their problems and concerns, while appealing for them to accept her apologies over their misconceptions about NDDC.

Onochie promised to address the concerns of the youths and bring a lasting solution to their demands. “You have talked about employment, we have set up a committee to address the issue of unemployment. The issues of accountability, undue favoritism to a particular State and other issues raised, will be addressed by the Board,” she added.
