The Nigerian Army’s Exercise GOLDEN DAWN troops have raided some identified locations of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) militia wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The camps were within Ochokwu village in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Some fighters of the separatist organization were killed in a fierce firefight during the clearance operation on Friday.

Arms and items recovered include AK-47 rifles, rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, magazines, Biafra flags, among others.

A source told PRNigeria that the secessionists had been occupying the hideout for some time.

“Troops exchanged fire with the gunmen. They subdued the IPOB militants”, the officer said.

On Saturday, the military announced the elimination of ESN members who killed Department of State Services (DSS) operatives in Anambra.

The officers were part of security personnel on protection duty for a campaign rally ahead of the Anambra poll.

The governorship election will hold on Saturday, November 6.
