The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Katsina has said that camp officials,and corp members must undergo a COVID-19 test before being allowed into the camp for the 2021 Batch ‘B’ stream ll orientation exercise.
The NYSC 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course is scheduled to commences on Wednesday.
This is contained in a statement issued by the NYSC spokesperson in Katsina, Alex Obemeata.The NYSC state coordinator, Ahidjo Yahaya, gave the directive while meeting with the heads of all collaborating agencies for the exercise.
Mr Yahaya emphasised the need to secure all corps members’ lives and property during the three-week orientation exercise, which begins on Wednesday.”Adherence to COVID-19 non-pharmaceutical protocols is sacrosanct. Everybody must observe the safety measures, including the camp officials,” he said.
A few weeks ago, Information minister Lai Mohammed accused the National Youth Service Corps of disobeying COVID-19 safety protocols, resulting in a surge of coronavirus cases in NYSC camps across the country.
Mr Mohammed also claimed that more positive cases were reported because the federal government had increased COVID-19 testing.
