Photo News: NITT holds National Conference on Transportation Infrastructure Development Financing

The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, (NIIT) on Tuesday holds a 2-day National Conference on Transportation Infrastructure Development Financing in Nigeria

The Director General, NIIT Bayero Farah while speaking at the opening ceremony expressed concern over low funding by the government and lean Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that the transport sector contributes to the nation’s economy.

The minister of Transportation Rt. Hon Rotimi Amaechi who was represented by the minister of state for Transportation, Sen. Gbemisola Saraki noted that the government alone cannot finance the transport sector considering its capital intensive nature and as such government keeps yearning for private sector involvement to achieve her goals.

The event had in attendance, the minister of finance, budget and national planning, Dr. Zainab Ahmed, the minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) amongst many others.
