Covid-19: Katsina receives first batch of vaccines

The Katsina State government on Wednesday night received its first batch of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The Executive Secretary of the state Health Primary Health Care Agency, Dr Shamsudeen Yahaya was among the state officials who took delivery of the vaccines.

Dr. Yahaya who confirmed the development note that the vaccines which were over one hundred thousand dosages, arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’ardua International Airport last night, the PUNCH reports.

“The vaccines just arrived now (9.52pm) and we are about offloading the dosages. I will speak with you later,” he said.

It was also learnt that vaccination of the frontline health workers in the state would commence immediately after Governor Bello Masari is vaccinated.

Although it could not be ascertained the actual dosages of the vaccines that were brought on Wednesday, a top government official had confided that the state might receive between 150,000 and 160,000 dosages of COVID-19 vaccines.

The official said. “Based on the number of frontline health workers and others that we have sent to Abuja, we are likely to receive between 150,000 and 160,000 dosages and this will be anytime next week.

“What we are presently doing is planning and training to ensure that everything goes on fine. We have trained some workers and we are carrying out another training on Thursday.

“We shall begin the vaccination immediately the vaccines are delivered to us.”
