Enugu schools directed to activate online platform ahead reopening

Following the earlier announcement on resumption dates for schools, the Enugu State Government has directed management of various schools in the state to engage the students/pupils in all tertiary institutions with a view to activate their e-learning programmes.

Recalled that January 18, 2021 was announced as the resumption date for all schools in the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Uche Eze, in a statement said the decision was reached at a meeting between the Ministry of Education and major stakeholders in the sector on Monday.

Eze disclosed that all schools in the state were advised to ensure full compliance with the guidelines for the containment of COVID-19.

He said, “The Ministry of Education will engage in constant monitoring of compliance when schools resume.

“It was also decided that to help engage the students/pupils, all tertiary institutions, Basic and Post Basic schools are advised to activate their e-learning programmes.”

Meanwhile, the state government suspended the annual New Year prayer session at the Government House to contain the second wave of COVID-19 in the state.

A press statement from the state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, however directed all civil servants to resume duties in their various offices, with strict compliance with NCDC guidelines.
