YouTube and ViacomCBSNetworks Africa, with Idris Elba, have announced further additions to the“Africa Day Benefit Concert At Home” lineup.

The concert will be streamed on the MTV Base Africa YouTubechannel on Monday, May 25 at 18:00 CAT andbroadcast on the network’s TV channels in Africa at 21:00 CAT.

The two-hour special will raisefunds to support food and health needs for children and families in Africaaffected by the COVID-19 pandemicthroughthe WorldFood Programme and UNICEF.

The concert will feature special messages from TrevorNoah, globally acclaimed comedian, author and host of ComedyCentral’s “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah”; reigning Miss Universe ZozibiniTunzi, renowned American actor OmariHardwick, American rapper and actor Ludacris,multiple award winning artist SeanPaul, R&B singer AnthonyHamilton, UN Goodwill ambassador and actress NomzamoMbatha, multi-talented rapper and actor, FatJoe, and leading actor WinstonDuke.

The show will bring together a powerful lineup of performancesfrom some of the most talented artists in Africa with the addition of Afrobeatssuperstars Davido (Nigeria), BurnaBoy (Nigeria), BebeCool (Uganda), Busiswa (SouthAfrica), Adekunle Gold (Nigeria), C4Pedro (Angola), ReekadoBanks (Nigeria), M.anifest (Ghana), Niniola (Nigeria), SalifKeita (Mali), DJMaphorisa & KABZADe Small (South Africa) and Toofan (Togo).

These artists join a confirmed lineup including AngeliqueKidjoAKADiamondPlatnumzFallyIpupaNasty CSautiSolSho MadjoziStoneBwoyTeniTiwaSavage and YemiAlade.

World Food Programme Regional Director for SouthernAfrica, Lola Castro says:“With so many people on thecontinent already acutely food insecure, we are extremely concerned about theprospect of COVID-19 causing a hunger catastrophe.”

TheCOVID-19 pandemic has affected the lives of many and disrupted economicactivity, increasing the threat to food security and children’s survival andwellbeing. UNICEF and the UN World Food Programme are working together to savelives and support millions of people, the bulk of whom live on the Africancontinent. All funds raised from the concert will be donated to their work tosupport COVID-affected communities in Africa.
