Berbatov advises Kane to consider copying what he did to join Man Utd
Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov believes Harry Kane should consider copying what he did.
Berbatov made a £30million transfer from Spurs to Old Trafford in 2008 and went on to win two Premier League titles and become a fan favourite with United supporters.
And now Kane is being heavily touted to make the same move – after dropping a hint that he would consider his options if he thought Tottenham were not heading in the right direction.
Yet Berbatov told Betfair that Kane should consider winning trophies and weigh up a possible switch to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
“I see a lot of similarities in the situation I went through and what is happening with Kane,” said Berbatov
“I feel that it’s also a similar time in his career that I was at, you start to think if you’re on the right path and you think about winning things.”
Berbatov said there was a connection between the two clubs that has paved the way for players to move between them in the past.
Midfielder Michael Carrick and Treble winning forward Teddy Sheringham are other examples of players to move between Spurs and United.
Kane, 26, will be difficult to prise away from Tottenham – with sources in north London dismissing the chances of a move – but Berbatov doesn’t think it’s impossible.
“There is a strong connection between Spurs and Manchester United,” he added.
“Teddy Sheringham was at Tottenham then went to Old Trafford, I was a Spurs striker and went to United and now Kane, who’s also a striker, is being linked with a move there.’
