Suspension of Football: FCT FA Reads Riot Act To Non-compliance
The Federal Capital Territory Football Association, FCT FA, has concluded plans to come hard on any individual, clubs, academies or organization who failed to comply with their directive suspending football activities in Abuja.
FCT FA, in a bid to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus in Abuja and Nigeria in general announced the suspension of all football activities in Abuja. Despite the directive, some individuals, clubs, academies are found playing football in the nation’s capital and the Association has concluded plans to hand anyone found wanting over to relevant authority.
Chairman, Technical Committee of the FCT FA, Coach Abimbola Samuel, who issued the directive on Wednesday in Abuja said: “We discover that, despite the suspension of football activities in all the six Area Councils in Abuja, some individuals, clubs, academies were seen playing football in Abuja.
“The Association has put in place Monitoring Committee in all the six Football Area Councils (including Mararaba and Nyanya) to monitor those who defied the directive and still carry on playing football in Abuja.
“Those who are doing this should stop, because anyone caught will be handed to the relevant authority.” Abimbola said.
While urging the general public to stay calm and safe by practicing good personal hygiene and keeping social distance, the FA also appealed to all six Area Football Council Chairmen and Secretaries to help in forcing the compliance on people to help in curbing the spread of the deadly disease.
