Sanusi out of detention, heads to Lagos
Former Emir of Kanu, Muhammad Sanusi II has left Awe, Nasarawa state with the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. According to El-Rufai, Sanusi is on his way to Lagos State.
Sanusi’s release follows a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja, which granted an interim order releasing him from detention. In an application marked FHC/ABJ/CS/357/2020, Sanusi’s lawyer, Mr Lateef Fagbemi SAN had asked the court to order Sanusi’s release from “the detention and or confinement of the respondents and to restore his rights to human dignity, personal liberty, freedom of association and movement in Nigeria, (apart from Kano State) pending the hearing and determination of the applicant’s originating summons.”
