Ogoni umbrella pressure group, the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, MOSOP, has condemned what it described as the undeserved removal of Doctor GBENE JOY NUNIEH as the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

MOSOP on Thursday noted that the struggle of the Ogoni people led to the creation of the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority and the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission which they did not benefit from as a people.

In a statement, the Publicity Secretary, MOSOP, NAABULOBARI NAAZIGHA-LUE said the struggle also led to the creation of the NDDC in the year 2000, though no Ogoni native had been the head of the commission.
NAAZIGHA-LUE said Doctor JOY NUNIEH was allegedly singled out and removed from the three member Interim Management Committee just three months in office as the Acting M.D.

The document added that the purported acts by the state and federal Government against the Ogoni people, reinforced their demand for a truly federal Nigeria to ensure enjoyment of benefits of the exploitation of their God-given resources.
