BREAKING: INEC fixes dates for Edo, Ondo gov elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed September 19, 2020 for governorship election in Edo and October 10, 2020 for that of Ondo state.


This was disclosed by Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, February 6.


INEC Chairman also stated that the commission has deregistered 74 political parties. With the deregistering, Nigeria now has 74 political parties, Nigeria is left with 18 political parties.


The 18 political parties include; Accord Party, Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Congress, All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance, and Allied Peoples Movement.


Others are Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, National Rescue Movement, Peoples Democratic Party, Peoples Redemption Party, Social Democratic Party, Young Progressives Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
