Trump Impeachment: Here are the U.S. lawmakers presenting cases against Trump

For the Impeachment trial of United States President Donald Trump, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi had earlier appointed a team of House managers, all democrats, to present their cases against Trump.

Members of the House managers team include; Adam Schiff, the chairman of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee; Jerrold Nadler, chairman of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee; Hakeem, U.S. House Judiciary Committee from New York and chairman of the U.S. House Democratic Caucus, and Zoe Lofgren, a senior member of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee from California and chair of the Committee on the House Administration of who is from California, is serving her 13th term in U.S. Congress.

Others include the first black woman police chief of Orlando, Florida, Val Demings; Jason Crow, a member of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee and Texas first Latina woman elected to the US House of Representatives, Sylvia Garcia.

According to Aljazeera, the impeachment rules approved by the U.S. senate are as follows:

  • Each side will get 24 hours over three days to present their case (that means opening arguments could last up to six days).
  • After arguments, senators will have 16 hours to ask questions, submitted in writing.
  • After the question and answer session, the Senate will likely discuss whether to subpoena witnesses and documents.
  • House evidence will be admitted automatically for the record unless there is a motion to throw out any evidence.
