Senator Kabir Gaya the Man of the People
Truly the simplicity of this wonderful Leader, Father, Brother, Uncle, Mentor, Role Model, and a wonderful Friend to many is a Leader to always emulate and look forward to because he has great intentions for the people of Nigeria.
Senator Kabir Gaya, is no doubt having his spot in the heart of the people because just as simple and humble he is, the Leader is kind and friendly to all equal and below him. If You have met him or hope to meet him in person, I am gladly telling You that You’ll never regret coming in contact with him because he listens.
Senator Kabir Gaya is a Leader who gives attention to the smallest of all, which simply makes him a very considerate Leader. Senator Kabir Gaya has in many ways been a blessing to many who looks up to him for support and has always shown his readiness and willingness to speak for the rights of the people ranging from the smallest and the highest-ranking Nigerians because he is a Leader who believes in equality and never wants anyone to be taken for granted.
So, before I go further, let’s get a glimpse into his person.
Background
Senator Kabir Ibrahim Gaya was born on 16 June 1952 at Alkala quarters Gaya LG, to the family Magajin Garin Gaya Sani. He attended Gaya Primary School from 1961-1964 and Tsangaya Primary School where he finished his primary school in 1968 his senior brother was then the Headmaster and Sumaila were the Assistant Headmaster who taught him math at the primary school.
He attended Government College, Birnin Kudu from 1969 to 1973 where he obtained the West African School Certificate and the College of Advanced Studies from 1974 to 1975. He received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria in 1977. He remained at the university, where he later received a Master’s Degree in architecture in 1980. After graduating, he lectured at the Kano State Polytechnic. In 1985, he became a board member of the Kano State Environmental Planning and Protection Agency.
Early political career
In 1992, during the transition to the Third Nigerian Republic, he was a member of the center-right National Republican Convention (NRC) on whose platform he was elected executive Governor of Kano State from 1992–1993. In 1997, during the General Sani Abacha transition, he joined the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) and was a member of the National Caucus Committee.
The UNCP included politicians such as Atiku Abubakar, Emeka Ojukwu, Mohammed Dagash, Ali Modu Sheriff, Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, Attahiru Bafarawa, Bello Matawalle, Hope Uzodinma, Adamu Aleiro, Anyim Pius Anyim amongst others. In 2003, Senator Kabir Ibrahim Gaya ran for the National Democratic Party (NDP) in the 2003 gubernatorial election in Kano State.
Senator Kabir Ibrahim Gaya was elected to the Senate for Kano South in 2007. He was appointed to committees on Gas, Local and Foreign Debts, States & Local Government, and Upstream Petroleum Resources and Works. In a mid-term assessment of the performance of Senators, ThisDay newspaper noted that he sponsored the Finance Management and Accountability Bill, 2009, and the Millenium Development Agency Bill, 2009. He co-sponsored five motions and contributed well to debates in plenary.
In May 2008, as chairman of the Senate committee on works, Kabir Gaya lamented that some projects were going very slowly, but said the Senate would never subscribe to the idea of privatizing Nigerian roads. In November 2009 he supported a motion by the Kano chapter of the ANPP to allow the state governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, to nominate the ANPP candidate for the 2011 governorship elections.
The presumptive nominee was Sheik Ibrahim Khaleel. Senator Kabir Gaya ran for election as Senator for Kano South on the ANPP platform in April 2011 and was reelected. Gaya was the Senate’s Deputy Minority Whip from 2007 until 2011. He was re-elected three times into the Senate in 2011, 2015, and 2019 elections.
Honours
Senator Kabir Gaya was elected vice president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) for Africa at the 135th general assembly of the union in Geneva, Switzerland October 2016.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) and the Nigerian Large Scale Farmers Association (NLSFA). He was awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree by the University Of Science And Applied Management, Porto-Novo, Benin.

Senator Kabir Gaya has proved himself without a doubt that he is a capable and trustworthy Leader who deserves our love, trust, and support in all aspects and at all times looking at how he has been of help to the masses. Honestly, the reason why I am saying all this about this great Leader is that I have been able to see, meet and talked to him and without any need to hold back My truth, I decided to let everyone who is yet to meet Senator Kabir Gaya that he is a reliable and responsible Leader who places importance on every Nigerian citizen including the entire human race.
Senator Kabir Gaya recently lost his Dearly Beloved Wife, and to Me, this was a great loss because she was also just as good as he is. Because she so loved the people and was always helping those in need just like the Dearly Beloved Senator Kabir Gaya, who put so many smiles on the faces of many families who need supports in different areas of life.
I must also, be honest to let You reading this know that Senator Kabir Gaya, is simply a Leader who has given several jobs to many people including several others who are not even from Kano State. Senator Kabir Gaya has carried out several empowerment projects and whose beneficiaries goes beyond the Muslims alone, his efforts towards impacting the Youths cannot be overlooked because he so cares about the livelihood of the Youths for the fact that he was also once a Youth, so he can tell what the Youths faces most especially for those who are yet to secure a job.
If I am to talk about his several roles played in the lives of the common Nigerians, I must tell You that Senator Kabir Gaya, has done way more than meets the eye, because he has ensured the completion of projects in his constituency and has brought prominence to his people in all areas. Senator Kabir Gaya is a Leader that has no ties with being bias and I can also tell You that he is not against anyone neither is he against any religion or tribe.
Senator Kabir Gaya is a source of support and a pillar of strength for many families and he spreads his goodwill all across the entire country and the human race at large is a beneficiary of his goodwill and kindness that goes beyond geographical sentiment.
So, knowing that Senator Kabir Gaya is such an awesome, Leader I join every Nigerian to celebrate such a glorious one we have.
