Ewelukwa takes over as NBET Ag CEO
The Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc on Wednesday announced that Dr Nnaemeka Ewelukwa had assumed office as the acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company.
On Tuesday, the Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, had directed the erstwhile managing director of the firm, Marilyn Amobi, to step down due to myriad complaints against her.
Mamman also raised a five-member committee to investigate the complaints raised against Amobi.
Barely 24 hours after the directive, the NBET in a statement issued by Aisha Waziri from the Corporate Services Department said the directive had been complied with as Ewelukwa, a general manager, and the pioneer General-Counsel/Company Secretary at NBET taking charge of the agencies’ operations.
Ewelukwa, according to the electricity bulk trader, had been working at the firm since it was established by the Federal Government.
“Ewelukwa has been part of the executive management team at NBET and has over 20 years of professional experience, spanning private practice, academia and currently, public service,” the company said.
It stated that prior to joining NBET, the new acting MD had served as a technical adviser on electricity regulatory and transaction issues with the Presidential Task Force on Power that was set up by the Federal Government to lead the implementation of the reform road map for the power sector.
