Gokada founder murdered in New York
Founder of Gokada- a motorbike hailing service headquartered in Lagos, Fahim Saleh, is dead. According to reports, the limbless body of the young millionaire was found on E. Houston Street, at Suffolk Street on the Lower Eastside about 3:30 p.m. by the Police. According to US media reports, CCTV footage from the building in which Saleh lived showed him entering a lift with a man wearing a mask on Monday.
The New York Police Department NYPD went to the seventh-floor of the $2.2million building after the victim’s sister called 911. She came calling Tuesday because she hadn’t seen her brother in a day, then discovered his dismembered corpse, an NYPD spokesman said.
Fahim Saleh alongside Nigerian entrepreneur, Deji Oduntan founded Gokada in 2017. The service was launched originally and started operations in Yaba Axis of Lagos state and has extended their operations to Victoria Island – Lekki Axis Lagos.
The company uses bikes with engine capacities of 200 cc and above meeting government standards for load-bearing on major Lagos roads. Saleh also co-found the ride company Pathao, which is popular in Bangladesh and Nepal, in 2015.
In February 2019, the company launched a new headquarters.[10]
In May 2019 Gokada raised $5.4 million in series A to grow its two-wheel transit business.[11] Gokada added luxury yacht service to its bike services in June 2019.
