COVID-19: Gov. Okowa’s cabinet members test positive
Several cabinet members of the Delta state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has been hit by coronavirus.
With today’s figure released by Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control, NCDC , the state has moved from 7th to 6th position in cumulative cases.
According to the NCDC reports, Delta state delivered a single day record of 166 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday as Nigeria also recorded its highest daily rate of 790 cases.
The oil-rich state seized control of the daily leaderboard, from the usual leader Lagos, which recorded 120 cases.
Delta has been in the news in recent days, with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, his wife and daughter announcing they had contracted the virus.
It has a total of 1,131 cases, while Rivers, which is now 7th, has 1,088 cases, which also makes Nigeria caseload increased from 25,694 on Tuesday to 26, 484.
NCDC report also indicates an increase death toll by 13 new deaths from 590 to 603.
The discharged also increased from 9,746 to 10,152.
