COVID-19: 200-bed isolation centre almost ready in Abuja

A new 200-bed isolation/treatment centre is almost ready in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as Nigeria continues the battle against coronavirus.

The facility is being built courtesy of a collaboration between a popular newspaper, energy company and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

a popular Chinese construction company also facilitated the civil works required to prepare the facility, which was an event centre, for seamless conversion into the isolation centre at no cost.

The sponsors say it will be run by professional doctors and health care workers with ventilators and other appropriate medical equipment.

The project which will also be handed over to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) through the FCDA upon completion.

 There is hope that the facility will help save lives, accelerate the process of halting the COVID-19 menace and ultimately propel Nigeria’s march towards sustainable development across all sectors of the economy.

Nigerian military has provided three additional facilities for isolation and treatment of patients who tested positive for coronavirus.

This was announced by the coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major-General John Enenche, on Wednesday, April 8.

The hospitals are the Nigerian Navy Hospital Warri, the Nigerian Navy Medical Centre Borokiri Port Harcourt and Nigeria Navy Logistics School Medical Centre, Owerrinta, bringing the total to 21 Centres. Legit
