Gay U.S. Presidential candidate drops out of race
The first gay major United States presidential candidate, Pete Buttigieg, has announced his decision to discontinue in the U.S. presidential race after losing badly in South Carolina’s primaries. Announcing his decision, Pete said: “The truth is that the path has narrowed to a close, for our candidacy if not for our cause. “Tonight I am making the difficult decision to suspend my campaign for the presidency.”
The former mayor in Indiana, and winner of the Iowa caucuses was the first openly gay candidate in U.S. primaries, but didn’t perform well enough in Nevada and South Carolina
Responding to Pete’s decision to discontinue in the race, his wife, Mr.Chasten Buttigieg said: “It has been an honor and a privilege to share my husband with the rest of this country.”
