Tokyo 2020: NOC charges Federations on qualification, quality participation
The Nigerian Olympic Committee, NOC has charged Sporting Federations still in the process of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan to buckle up and ensure qualification, and to also ensure that their Athletes win medals for the Nation.
This charge was contained in a communique released at the end of their Annual General Meeting which took place in Abuja on Thursday.
The NOC stated that they would collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to give all necessary support to enable them achieve that.
The Communique stated further, “The AGM unanimously approved the NOC President Activities Report with a robust applause. Furthermore, the AGM also approved the finance and audit reports for the year 2018 and commended the board for financial transparency while the current auditors contract was renewed for another year.
The NOC congress also approved the motion for the election of the 4th Vice President, saying, “Henceforth, this position shall be contested for by only women. Women can still vie for other positions but in conformity to the gender balance in line with Agenda 2020 of the International Olympic Committee,” the Communique concluded.
