Buhari Appoints Dr YB Usman As Rector Federal Polytechnic Idah
President Mohammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Yahaya Baba Usman as the new Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Idah.
In a press release signed by the Registrar of the Institution, Abdulkadir Baba, Dr. Yahaya Baba Usman was born on 5th August, 1968 and hails from Olamaboro Local Goverment Area of Kogi State.
He bagged his B.Sc. degree in Statistics from University of Ibadan. Also, he did his M.Sc and PhD in same institution.
YB Usman is a Fellow of Institute of Policy Management Development (FIPMOD) and member, Nigerian Statistical Association (NSA) and Professional Statistics Society of Nigeria (PSSN).
Dr Usman started his working career as Assistant Lecturer at Federal Polytechnic, Idah between 1997 – 1998 before transferring his services to Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa in 1998 where he rose through the ranks to become Chief Lecturer on 1st January, 2017.
The academic scholar has contributed immensely in knowledge through in the nation in both local and foreign journals and attended various local and international conferences and workshops of repute.
He has also bagged various distinction awards and honours in his fields of endeavour at different fora.
Until his appointment, Dr Usman was Director, Academic Planning, Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, a post he held since 2019.
The appointment is for a single term of five years with effect from the date he assumes office.
