The senate has confirmed the appointment of Kingsley Obiora as the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Obiora’s appointment was confirmed after chairman of the senate committee on banking, Uba Sani, says the the Senate has confirmed the appointment of Kingsley Obiora as the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).


Sani who disclosed this while presenting his report on the floor of the Senate, said his committee did not receive any petition against the nominee.
“The committee did not receive any petition against the nominee. He has the experience and has a good track record. “The committee screened the nominee and it is satisfied. I hereby recommend that he be confirmed as deputy of CBN.”


Obiora holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Benin, a Masters in Economics from the University of Ibadan, and a Doctorate in Monetary and International Economics, also from the University of Ibadan.


He is currently an Alternate Executive Director in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) In Washington DC, United States of America.
