The Government is making huge investment for the Blue Economy- DG NIMASA

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration And Safety Agency, Dr Bashir Jamoh has said that the Government is making huge effort in making sure that the Nigeria’s Blue economy meet up with the Global market place standard.

He stated this on Friday 29, 2021, at the Flag off ceremony of the Third phase of Nigerian Seafarers Development Programme (NSDP)

He also stated that the national CPR deployment Programme must be energized in line with annual estimate, in order for our country to be competitive in Cruding and mining.

Addressing the audience that compromises; dignitaries (which includes the Minister of Transportation) and students, he said

“The 200 hundred youth standing before us today now bear the major burden of our shoulders because we cannot achieve our potential with you”

He stated specifically to the students about the Government effort in putting things in place for them.

“The Government is making a huge investment, in all ramification for you in order to be…to position our country for the blue economy. The training you will receive and the certification you will achieve will put you into global shipping market place and enable you to ultimately contribute your prospective quarters to the expansion and diversification of the national economy. Sea time training will be part and parcel of the Programme so that there is no waiting time.

“He also revealed that the agency is making effort to sign an agreement for mutual recognition, to enable Nigerian seafarers work on board

“To prepare ourselves for upcoming opportunities, the agency will make… certain effort to sign bilateral agreement of mutual recognition of certificate of competency to open opportunities for Nigerian seafarers to work on board”

“We are working with the industry expert to ensure that our maritime education and training, meet the International standard”
