BUHARI CELEBRATES SENATOR AMOSUN AT 62

Immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is 62 today. On the long list of those felicitating with the ex-Governor, is President Muhammadu Buhari. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina in a statements said the President is wishing Senator Amosun long life and good health to continue in the service of the nation and humanity.

“President Muhammadu Buhari, on behalf of himself and the Federal Government, felicitates most sincerely, with the immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on the occasion of his 62nd birthday,” the Statement says.


President Buhari “prays that Almighty Allah grants the celebrant long life and good health to continue in the service of the nation and humanity,” the statement also stated.


Senator Amosun who was born on 25th January, 1958 attended the African Church Primary school in Abeokuta (1965–1970), and then African Church Grammar school, Abeokuta (1971 – 1977). He proceeded to the Ogun State Polytechnic where he graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in 1983. Amosun gained an Associate membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in 1990 and became a fellow of the Institute in 1996. He further became an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria in 1998.


In April 2003, Ibikunle Amosun was elected to the senatorial seat of Ogun Central Senatorial district. On April 26, 2011, Senator Amosun won the Ogun state Governorship election with 377,489 votes under the then ACN platform. In 2015, Senator Amosun was re-elected for a second term in office.
