Hard Work Pays, WTO DG charges Nigerian Women

The Director-General, World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has charged Nigerian women on the need to put in their best at whatever they find themselves doing as ‘Hard Work Pays’.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday at the stakeholders meeting with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okonjo-Iweala stated that Nigeria is a very gifted and talented country having emerged as the DG, WTO.
She affirm that the feat is the result of hard work and and as such, Nigerians should not relent in working hard, especially young girls and women.
“So I think this is a good example to show everyone in the country that if you work hard, you can make it.
This is to encourage our young people especially girls and women.”
The WTO Boss however pledged her support to add value and enhance trade and investment in Nigeria.
She stated that the World Trade Organization will support in trading, export, processing and capacity building for Nigeria.
“This was an excellent meeting, the minister of Industry, Trade and Investment stated what the needs of the country are and what they will like to see the WTO do to support the country,
“it was a business -like meeting, we talked about the needs for capacity building, need to add value to Nigeria’s products so we do could trade more and export more, process more within our country.”
“We will get into details on how we will do that.”
Okonjo-Iweala added that substantive issues such as ministerial conference 12, e-commerce, Agriculture, and women and trade were subject of discourse.
“We also talked about the ministerial conference 12 and the honorable minister was very insistence that from Nigeria’s perspective, we get some outcome on Agriculture because we are a country that is quite dependent on agriculture.
“Then we talked about e-commerce outcomes, the honorable minister of state insisted that we must work on women and trade, so this are very substantive issues.”
