#ENDSARS: Dino Melaye, Shehu Sani, Davido, others join call for reform
A former member of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Dino Melaye, has joined the clamoring for the reform of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), a unit of the Nigerian Police Force. In a message on Twitter, Dino Melaye said: “This SARS issue must be looked into. The President must stop keeping silent on it. If the government will not take a decisive action on the Police to end SARS. We the people will through civil disobedience push them to stop it. Enough is Enough.”
Similarly, another member of the last Nigerian Senate, Senator Shehu Sani, has also joined the call for the reform. Shehu said: “A state funded agency should not be allowed to notoriously and cruelly breach fundamental rights and unleash violence against the people it’s constitutionally mandated to serve.”
Nigerian hip hop recording artists, Olamide Adedeji and David Adedeji Adeleke populary known as Davido, have equally lended voices to the agitation. Olamide said: “This is not the time to point fingers, who the f**k is protesting and who is not. It’s time to collectively stop fighting each other and demand good governance. Nobody deserve to killed for nothing by the people that’s meant to protect them. The Gov. Should lead by example.”
While Davido wrote: “#endsarsnow !!!! If we all come together as brothers and sisters and also as citizens of this country we can end this Nonsense!!”
