Fleeing Bandits Kills 6 Katsina Traders In Christmas Eve Attack
Mourners on Christmas Day buried six traders killed by terrorists in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Residents disclosed that the traders were killed on Sunday evening while returning from a local market in the council.
The residents identified the slain traders as Yusuf Karamiusu, Sale Lamin, Dan Hameme, Mallam Shafi, Mallam Dikke and Kashim Samiu.
Sources said they were burried on Monday in Yan Gayya village, according to Islamic rites.
The residents also disclosed that four others, identified as Biliyaminu,Mallam Jafaru,Lawal Dachi and Dan Hasuma, were wounded during the attack.
The residents added that all the four were currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
According to the residents, the terrorists also abducted two men during the attack.
The men were identified as Alhaji Abdurashidi and Abdu Teacher.
The residents disclosed that the terrorists, believed to be fleeing from a security operation in Zamfara State, shot and attacked the vehicle the traders were travelling in at Kukar Babangida village.
It was learnt that the terrorists initially shot and killed the driver of the vehicle, forcing the vehicle to a halt.
A resident said, “The traders were travelling from Jibia market to Yan Gayya after trading at the market.The driver was shot dead which forced the vehicle to stop down the road. The terrorists killed six traders, abducted two and wounded four.The terrorists thereafter left without taking anything from the vehicle.”
The spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident, adding that security operatives were already on the trail of the terrorists.
He said, “Yes,it is true.The command has deployed its operational assets to track down and arrest the perpetrators.”
