Army Launches Operation Safe Conduct for Kogi State Gubernatorial Election
Nigerian Army in a resounding display of dedication to upholding safety and order during the forthcoming Kogi State gubernatorial election, has conducted a Combined Force for Operation Safe Conduct, under the leadership of Major General Bamidele Alabi, commenced with a grand Show of Force.
The event, held on November 6, 2023, at the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army Parade Ground in Chari Maigumeri Barracks Lokoja, signals the Nigerian Army’s comprehensive readiness and ongoing efforts to support stakeholders involved in Nigeria’s electoral processes, specifically in Kogi State.
This significant initiative highlights the pivotal role of Operation Safe Conduct in preserving peace and security within Kogi State during the election period, ensuring a conducive environment for the people to exercise their right to vote without fear or intimidation.
During the launch, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) encouraged citizens to collaborate with security agencies and promptly report any suspicious activities that could undermine the peaceful conduct of the election scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 2023. Operation Safe Conduct’s inauguration underscores the unwavering commitment of security forces to ensure an election free from violence, fostering a fair and transparent electoral process.
The unified effort of the security agencies in Kogi State, supported by Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, will be instrumental in upholding the democratic principles of the nation and maintaining peace in the state. Additionally, stern warnings have been issued to individuals intending to cause chaos, including bandits, ballot box snatchers, or those masquerading as security personnel, emphasizing the swift and decisive measures in place to apprehend and handle such disruptors.
