FG To Unveil New National Urban Development Policy- Dangiwa
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc Musa Ahmed Dangiwa, has disclosed that the Revised National Urban Development Policy, (NUDP) will soon be completed and adopted for use in the practice of urban and regional planning in Nigeria.
Dangiwa disclosed this when he received the Leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Dangiwa explained that the National Urban Development Policy document is being worked on and would be presented to stakeholders in the built environment for their inputs during the upcoming National Council on Lands and Housing Development coming next month.
The Minister also stated that the challenges facing cities across Nigeria have become more complex due to rapid population growth and urbanization. Proper planning and housing development are the key to solving these challenges.
Since his appointment as Minister, Dangiwa has met with almost all the professional bodies and stakeholders in the built environment in an effort to herness their expertise and experience to develop a workable and realistic action plan for the industry. All the Policy Documents and Roadmaps for the Housing and Urban Development will be unveiled by FG in no time for effective implementation.
Understanding the problem is solving 50% of the problem. Dangiwa believes in that and that’s why he is investing energy and time to fully and properly understand the problem despite being in the Industry for more than 30 years.
