NDDC Determined To Ensure Youths In Ogoni Kingdom Are Empowered – Lauretta Onochie Assures
Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC Board Chairman, Lauretta Onochie has assured the Ogoni that the commission is determined to ensure youths in Ogoni Kingdom are empowered.
Onochie said this while playing host to the Ogoni Youths Peace Movement today, Thursday during a courtesy call on her at the Commissions’ corporate headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State
She said “we are determined to ensure that youths of Ogoni Kingdom are empowered, but, we intend to first carry out a need assessment to be sure of individual needs and how best to intervene because just like we have different needs, so also does every community’s needs differ.”
“We have received your 5-point proposal and I must say that they are within the principal mandate of NDDC which is exactly what our Board is pursuing. So, be rest assured we are on the same page”.
The visit, according to the youth group was to “highlight pressing challenges confronting the Ogoni people” of the Niger Delta.
