Peter Obi Appoints General Enenche Who Claimed No Lekki Massacre As Campaign Council Member
John Enenche, the army General who claimed photos and videos from the massacre of unarmed demonstrators at Lekki Tollgate were photoshopped, has been appointed a member of Peter Obi’s presidential advisory council.
On Wednesday, Mr Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour party, released a list of his campaign team, which had 1,234 names, including the army general appointed as a representative of the North-Central.
Mr Enenche’s appointment has triggered an outcry from the party’s supporters, insisting he is unsuitable to take up any position in Mr Obi’s campaign team due to his role in covering up the Lekki massacre in October 2020.
Yunusa Tanko, the campaign’s chief spokesman, did not immediately respond to Peoples Gazette’s request seeking comments on the matter.
Mr Enenche had claimed the Instagram live footage of DJ Switch, which showed #EndSARS protesters dying from Nigerian army’s bullets, was photoshopped. The video of his claims has been posted on Twitter.
Mr Obi’s supporters, otherwise known as ‘Obidients’, are clamouring for the removal of the general name from the campaign council.
