Ansu Fati makes anticipated return to Barcelona camp
There was a welcome sight in Barcelona training on Tuesday as Ansu Fati made his long-awaited return to the training ground and took part in the session with the first team.
The 18-year-old has not featured for Barcelona since November 2020 due to knee problems but is thankfully closing in on a return to action.
Fati has been training away from the group but took part in some of Tuesday’s session with his teammates which will be a big boost to coach Ronald Koeman.
It’s hoped the teenager will be available for selection after the international break. Sunday’s game against Getafe is Barca’s last before La Liga pauses for a couple of weeks.
If all goes well it looks as though Fati could be ready for the trip to Sevilla on September 11, although reports have stated Barca will not rush the youngster’s return.
Tuesday’s session was also notable as Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong did “specific work” away from the group as a “precaution,” according to Diario Sport.
De Jong is only just back from a calf problem he suffered up in pre-season, while there have been reports Memphis picked up an ankle knock at the end of the draw with Athletic.
The report reckons both players should be available for the visit of Getafe at the weekend but Barca are being careful with both players in the build-up to the game.
