Aregbesola orders officers, others to vacate seats amid Covid-19 protocols
A drama played out on Tuesday as the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, ordered officers and other dignitaries present at the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service to vacate their seats in compliance with the social distancing protocols.
Aregbesola said this at the inauguration of the service’s Code of Conduct and Ethics as well as the Electronic Document Management System.
The minister, before beginning his address, said the first step to a stable code and ethics inauguration was to adhere to the existing laws, especially the COVID-19 protocol.
“Corruption is manifested in non-compliance with any regulation, including the COVID-19 protocol,” Aregbesola said.
Consequently, he ordered members of the audience to re-arrange their seating arrangement, leaving one empty seat in-between.
He also ordered those left standing to vacate the main hall and find places at the upper gallery of the auditorium.
He further charged the Comptroller General, Muhammed Babandede, saying that more needs to be done in enforcing the COVID-19 protocol.
