Group tasks Gov. Matawalle on girl child education in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Female Ulama Association and state female Qur’anic Reciters Association have urged governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to as a matter of urgency facilitate two bills before the state House of Assembly to promote girls child education in the state.

The Chairperson of the group Malama Hadijatu Maharazu Ishak made the call when the two associations paid a visit to the governor in Gusau, the state Capital.

According to the association, there are two bills before the state House of Assembly that would enhance, empower and promote girl child education and the development of women in general.

The chairperson explained that one of the bills is seeking 30percent inclusion of women as policy and decision-makers in the field of education.

Hajiya Ishak urged Islamic preachers, teachers and religious organizations in the state to always share their knowledge with the people and ensure adequate public enlightenment especially to girls and women in the state

“The world is now a global village and Zamfara women and girls cannot be left behind as development is gradually overtaking the entire world” she lamented.

Malama Hadijatu Ishak said the Association which was formed in 2017 is an umbrella of all women Islamic organisations cut across the 14 Local Government Areas of the state.

She commended the Governor for appointing a female Commissioner, several women as Special Advisers among many other public appointments.

Governor Matawalle in his remarks expressed satisfaction at the manner the two associations propagate peace and Islamic tenets to the people especially girls and women in the state.

Matawalle urged women, Islamic preachers, to use their knowledge and position to enlighten the people especially girls and women on the importance of peace and supporting government policies and programs.
