Late Nelson Mandela’s daughter tested positive Coronavirus- Family
The family of South Africa’s ambassador to Denmark, Ambassador Zindzi Mandela and daughter of South Africa’s anti-apartheid icons Nelson Mandela, who died in Johannesburg at the age of 59, has revealed that the late Zindi, died of Covid-19. “This doesn’t mean that she died from COVID complications, but simply that she tested positive for it,” the late Zindi’s son, Zonda Mandela said.
Commending the family for sharing the information, South African’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, said the gesture was an act of solidarity to the cause life of the late ambassador. “I would like to thank the Mandela family for the very important gesture of sharing this information with the nation. This is a virus that affects us all, and there should never be any stigma around people who become infected,” South African President said in a tweet.
He added that revealing the cause of her death, was “a final act of solidarity in the life of a woman who devoted her life to the cause of her fellow South Africans.” Ms Mandela had “during our years of struggle brought home the inhumanity of the apartheid system and the unshakeable resolve of our fight for freedom,” Mr Ramaphosa added.
