No cause for Alarm over Injury-Ogenyi Onazi
Super Eagles and Denizlispor midfield enforcer Onazi Ogenyi has calmed frayed nerves of his teeming fans over his recent injury which will sideline him for one week.
A small rupture was detected around the back muscle of his leg after the club’s 1-0 loss to Sivasspor. Onazi will miss week 28th of the Super League Cemil Master Season, tie against Besiktas slated for Denizli Atatürk Stadium this Saturday.
But in a chat with newsmen on Wednesday afternoon, the former Trabzonspor star said he is in good condition and would return to action in no time.
“It’s just a strain, I will be back to training next week. God is in control,” he told.
Onazi signed a year and a half contract with Denizlispor, a Turkey Super Lig club side, after leaving Trabzonspor in January transfer window.
The 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) winning midfielder ruptured his Achilles tendon against Rizespor in a Turkish Super Lig game in December 2018, and was sidelined from the action.
He, however, returned to the pitch during Tranzonspor’s Europa League 2-0 loss against Basel on December 12.
