Police officers shot, as unrest continues in U.S over George Floyd’s murder
As protest continues across the United States of America over the death of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, two Police officers have reportedly sustained shot wounds in New York, during a confrontation between protesters and police officers. According to the New York Police Department, another police officer was stabbed in the neck. The officers were taken to a hospital with wounds that were not expected to be life-threatening, the New York Police department disclosed.
In North Carolina, the Police department is coming under fire after a video of police officers using chemical agents on demonstrators went viral. The video was recorded Tuesday night by a newspaper publisher in the region, Justin LaFrancois. According Justin who shared the video, the officers fired tear gas and flashbangs from behind the protesters, and in front of them, as well. He also said officers perched on top of buildings were firing pepper balls down on the crowd.
“We were completely trapped,” LaFrancois said. “There was one way to get out, and half of the group did go out that way through the tear gas and through the pepper balls. But for the rest of us, the only route of escape … was to pull up a gate on the parking structure that we were pressed up against.”
