The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will deploy 451 personnel for Saturday’s House of Assembly by-election in Patigi Constituency of Kwara State. The Patigi Constituency seat became vacant following the death of the former occupant, Saidu Rufai, last December.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Attahiru Madami, disclosed this while addressing reporters in Ilorin. Madami said: “Fifty-two thousand, two hundred and thirty-three (52, 233) people registered in the constituency. INEC received 51,471 permanent voter cards (PVCs), 43,685 PVCs were collected and 7,781 PVCs were not collected. “Eight parties conducted primaries and six forwarded the list of their successful candidates to us. Only one female candidate is contesting in the election on the platform of APM. Preparations for the election are in top gear.”
