Forex dealer’s death: Islamic council sues for peace in Rivers
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs on Tuesday urged Muslims in Rivers State to be calm, after some of the faithful staged a protest around Presidential Hotel junction in Port Harcourt.
This was after one of their members slumped and died in the area following a reported fracas yesterday.
Eyewitnesses said the deceased died during a scuffle with men of the Rivers State Task Force on Street Trading, Illegal Markets and Motor Parks.
In the meantime, the Vice President General of the Rivers State Council for Islamic Affairs, NASIR UHOR said the body would hold a meeting to determine its next line of action.
However, the Coordinator of the Rivers State Task Force, BRIGHT AMAEWHULE, said the deceased was not a foreign currency dealer, rather a roadside food vendor of northern origin.
