Charles III, Camilla Crowned Officially Crowned King, Queen Amid Fanfare
King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, have officially been crowned at the Westminster Abbey, and from there, proceeded to the Buckingham Palace where they are receiving a royal salute from the U.K. and Commonwealth forces.
Their procession through London, of royals and 7,000 troops, was thronged by crowds of spectators. More than 2,200 guests from across the world attended the ceremony at the abbey, a televised spectacle meets power-projecting ritual with a generous dose of religion.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla will emerge on the Buckingham Palace balcony after to greet the crowds and watch more than 60 military aircraft streak overhead.
Weather permitting, the jets will fly down the Mall and over the palace to close out the day’s main events at about 9:30 a.m. Eastern time (2:30 p.m. in London).
