Sequel to the recent attack at Yelwa Zangam community of Jos North LGA of Plateau State, where over 30 people were killed, several others injured and many properties destroyed, Anaguta Development Association (ADA) has called on the Federal Government to establish a police mobile post at Yelwan Zangam and Kunga communities of the area.

The ADA also said a mobile police training camp should be opened at the hills East of Bauchi Ring Road, around Atagir Zangam, Jos North LGA, so as to prevent the area from becoming a kidnapper’s den or militia camp.

The ADA equally called on the government to construct an alternative safety route during emergency situations for students and staff of the University of Jos.

The association stated this in a press statement, signed by its President, Hon. Sunday G. Bunu, and Secretary-General, Hon. Gideon H. Tata, made available to journalists in Jos, the state capital.

It reads: “Since the Anaguta nation plays host to the University community, and the two communities attacked on 18th September 2018 and 24th August 2021, are neighbouring communities, the government should provide police mobile posts at the (Yelwan Zangam and Kunga) communities.

“Since many university students had been victims of attacks by residents of some neighboring communities, the government should mount security checkpoints at all known flashpoints linking and bordering this reputable citadel of learning to forestall future occurrence.

The ADA maintained that “There are certain routes that are considered safe in emergency situations. Thus, the government should construct an alternative road for staff and students from the university’s permanent site linking Aisha Mana Orphanage home, Zaria Road.

“The bridge linking Kunga and Yelwa Zangam that was destroyed prior to the attack to prevent Security Operatives from repelling the attackers has to be adequately rehabilitated to facilitate the reintegration of the victims into the fabric of socioeconomic life.

“Mobile police training camp should be opened at the hills of East of Bauchi Ring Road, Atagir Zangam, Jos North to prevent the area from becoming kidnapper’s den or militia’s training camp.”
